Luke, the trike & I are waiting – sitting between two hunky firefighters – for the bus that will take us to the starting line. Please, everybody, keep your fingers crossed for a safe race for all involved! You wouldn’t believe how many folks it takes to pull off the NYC Marathon, all the staff & volunteers & guides & city workers. NYPD & FDNY – besides having teams/runners competing – keep everything on track & running smoothly.
Luke the Wonder Dog will be handed off to the lucky firefighters who’ve volunteered to take care of him while I “run” the race. I’ve packed a race day bag for him with treats, tennis ball, rawhide chews & his favorite stuffed animal. He just might be getting the better end of this deal, today 🙂
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement & donations & all-around support in this journey of mine; I hope to do you all proud!

I work with Tobi Cogswell and Trista Tyson. Tobi just sent me an email that you finished the NYC Marathon. Wow Lady, I am impressed by your ability and energy to kick ass.
You are an inspiration to anyone who has ever “run” a 5 K much less the NYC Marathon. My thoughts are with you and Luke.

Welcome to the blog & thanks for your good thoughts. I’m convinced the last few miles of the marathon – when I wasn’t sure I’d make it to the finish line – were fueled by others’ belief in me & collective urging on.
Still hard to take it all in: that it’s over, that I took part in & actually completed the New York City Marathon, that I didn’t let myself – or anybody else – down, and that my body didn’t let me down, either. How lucky am I to have had this experience?
